Remember the Whole Picture

A common lie we tell ourselves is that we clean our home interior for us, and we clean the outside for others. It makes sense when you think we see the inside of our homes more than others will.  We want to keep the inside clean and sanitized more often than the outside as a result. We clean the outside for special occasions, and maybe once annually in the Spring. Many of us will only clean our homes once and that’s it. But think about this—by focusing on only the inside of your home, the outside of your home still continues to grow infested, and it will leak into your home. This undoes all the cleaning you do on the inside. Let’s take a look at some common opportunities for contamination.

Kids: Living, Breathing Hot-Zones

Kids come into contact with surfaces at school that would rival a public restroom in a rest area. There are germs everywhere! School playgrounds and play surfaces in the classroom are a hot zone of bacteria that cling to the feet, clothes and hands. When they come home they get out and track those germs from the driveway all the way into the home. We have pets that go outside during the day, and come back in, right? Our pets bring all sorts of bacteria in from the outside on their paws. Our pets don’t just stay on the wood patio, they go in the grass, we take the for walks at parks, and then they bring all sorts of stuff with them back home.

The Roof is Growing Vegetables!

And then what about us? When we get home from work we get out of the car after tracking the bacteria from the street, sidewalk, parking lot and work surfaces we walked on, and bring them on the outside and inside of our property. But not before walking to the mailbox to get our mail. And then we bring all that bacteria in too. The airducts on the top of our roofs also act as a launching pad to shoot pollen, bacteria and other microbials into the air system of our homes. Our roof catches all that gross stuff, and then the ducts are sitting right there to bring it all in.

Clean Smart not Hard

Now think about all that cleaning you’ve been doing every weekend in the foyer, kitchen, living room and bathrooms. You can’t seem to get ahead. It gets dirty and dirty every week. It’s important to remember that by maintaining your entire home and considering not only the appearance, but also the state of contamination your property is in, you will clean less in the course of the year when you clean completely. Clean smart and remember the whole picture! We can help you too by keeping your exterior clean and sanitized. Our surfaces stay clean and thwart the effects of common bacteria that live on our homes. We can give you a real fighting chance to keep your entire property sanitized.
